In a crusade against lynching and racial discrimination,
W.E.B. Du Bois and his allies formed the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People on this day in 1909.
Since its inception, the NAACP has worked to advance diversity
in American culture and eradicate discrimination.

The NAACP was essential to the court challenge during the civil
rights movement.
